Prehistoric Kingdom Wiki

An essential structure for any park, the Animal Nursery is where the many animals of Prehistoric Kingdom are born and prepared for life in the park. It is one of the many essential structures necessary to get a park up and running as it is the only method so far of getting animals into the park (with the exception of Mini-Aviary animals).

Description[]

The Animal Nursery comes in three sizes, taking on the forms of boxy, green metallic modules. Each higher tier must be subsequently unlocked via research and costs more to build and upkeep, but can create larger species of animal and holds more animals in its queue (from five, to ten, to fifteen).

As modules, Animal Nurseries can be left bare or be decorated with modular pieces and combined with other functional modules to form a prefab. Several developer-made prefabs are present in the game, all built with the modern theme: Two large nursery buildings and one each for the small and medium nurseries. One of the large prefabs is a modular recreation of the Animal Nursery as it appeared in the Alpha and Beta versions of Prehistoric Kingdom, when it was a solid, inalterable object. It has features like staff entrances and a holding pen which are expectable but not currently essential to the function of the module.

Clicking once on a prefab containing an Animal Nursery, whether or not that prefab contains anything else as well, will reveal the option to enter the "Genetics Lab" interface. From here, animals which have been unlocked from the "Excavations" tab can be bred. Players can choose to breed female or male (with the right research in Challenge Mode) animals, choose skins and get an overview of the animals’ needs. There is a slider to change an animal’s age.
