Laurasiatheria is an extant superorder of placental mammals.
Laurasiatheria originated originated on their namesake supercontinent: Laurasia and last shared a common ancestor during the Cretaceous period. They have since radiated and diversified extensively, today comprising over 40% of living mammal species across the planet.
Laurasiatheria orders include Chiroptera (Bats), Carnivora (Felids, Canids, Pinnipeds, Mustelids, etc.), Eulipotyphla (True Insectivores), Pholidota (Pangolins), Artiodactyla and Perissodactyla (Even and Odd-Toed Ungulates respectively).
