Feeders and Troughs

Ground feeders of different styles and with different foods, as well as the two sizes of water trough.

Feeders provide animals with food. Feeders will need to be periodically refilled using food from storage facilities. In Prehistoric Kingdom, an animal's diet consists of one or more of the following groups - plants, meat, insects, fish and fruit. When placed, a ground feeder will consist of metal and be empty, needing to be filled by a keeper, but both visual style and diet group will be editable after placement.

Most animals will use a ground feeder. However, some animals like sauropods or Paraceratherium will also eat from a tall feeder, a separate module which can only contain plants.

Initially, food comes from loading bays and is sent to storage units. To feed more animals later in the game, it is recommended to use produce stations, whose 5 units can each create 100kg of any diet group and which require fertilizer (dung) from compost heaps.

Water is also vital for all animals. This need can be satisfied either by a "real" body of water painted down with the terraforming tools, or by placeable water troughs.
