Juxia is a small paracerathere from what is now China and India. In Prehistoric Kingdom, Juxia is represented by its type species, Juxia sharamurenensis. It is an alternative genus of Paraceratherium.

In-Game[]

Description[]

The alternate genus Juxia is much smaller in stature than the Paraceratherium species, being only around the size of a large horse. It also possesses a distinctive mane on its neck. Juxia is depicted as largely brown and with a differently shaped nose than the Paraceratherium species, which is due to the shape of Juxia's skull.

Although it's much smaller than its cousin, Paraceratherium, Juxia takes up just as much space in my heart.

Its smaller size was likely an asset when trying to move around the dense jungle habitats it once called home. Though I use small relatively, because Juxia is still a massive animal by today's standards.

Paleontology[]

Juxia was a basal member of the paraceratheriid group. It is likely that later giant paraceratheriids evolved from forms similar to Juxia. It was not as far ranging as Paraceratherium as a genus, with the only known Juxia fossils being from modern day China and parts of India.

Juxia was named in 1964 by Zhou Mingzhen and Qiu Zhanxiang and its name means "gigantic rhinoceros".
