Miragaia is a large genus of thyreophoran dinosaur from the Late Jurassic of Portugal.
It is unknown when Miragaia may return to the roster of Prehistoric Kingdom.

Description[]
One of the most bizarre stegosaurs known, Miragaia sports the longest neck and most plates of any stegosaur known by far. With seventeen vertebrae, it rivals the sauropods in terms of the number of neck vertebrae. Miragaia has one of the longest thagomizers of any Stegosaur, capable of reaching almost a meter long.

Paleontology[]
Miragaia measured 6-7 meters long, 2 meters tall and could weigh 2 tons, making it a medium sized Stegosaur. It´s believed that the neck elongation was for avoiding competition with other medium sized herbivores and to impress partners.
It was closely related to Dacenturus, which was another species of stegosaur native to Europe, and recent Dacentrurus material may indicate that Miragaia is a junior synonym to the former dinosaur. A recent study suggests that the North American Alcovasaurus is in fact a descendent of the ancestor of Miragaia that crossed the recently formed Atlantic and evolved into a different species.
Miragaia was named in 2009 and its name is a refers to the village of Miragaia in Portugal which is close to where the holotype was found.

- Miragaia is expected to receive a full remodel and redesign by the developers to match with current findings on Miragaia's overall appearance.
- Miragaia is one of the few Dinosaurs featured in the game that´s originally from the Lourinhã Formation, with the other one being A. europaeus, which is represented in the Veiled skin. The other dinosaurs that have relatives in this Portuguese site include Torvosaurus, Ceratosaurs, Brachiosaurus and Camarasaurus.
