Nasutoceratops titusi is a medium-sized herbivorous dinosaur that lived in North America during the Late Cretaceous. Notable for its bull-shaped horns, this ceratopsian has quickly risen in popularity due to its distinctive appearance.

In-Game[]

Description[]

A medium-sized ceratopsian, the most distinctive trait of Nasutoceratops is easily its skull. Jutting forward in a manner unlike any of its relatives, Nasutoceratops horns are more visually similar to the horns of a large bull than the horns of Triceratops. Another peculiarity is Nasutoceratops’s nasal, with its distinctive height and depth as well as the lack of a clearly visible horn common in other ceratopsids of a similar size, such as Syracosaurus. Along its body are small warty bumps and a keratinized ridge trailing from behind its neck to the end of its tail, an added design trait unique to Prehistoric Kingdom.

Wow, look at the horns on that one! This must be Nasutoceratops, a ceratopsian best identified by its large cow-like features.

Nigel Marven

Much like a rhino or… well, a cow, its horns are sheathed in keratin, the same material that makes up scales, feathers, fingernails, and even hair!

Nigel Marven

That huge head can grow a meter and a half long from tip to tip - that's a third of its body length!

This massive creature weighs approximately one-and-a-half tonnes! To put that into perspective, a mature Spanish Fighting Bull can weigh up to 0.7 tonnes. Imagine setting THAT lose on the streets of Pamplona in Spain!

Paleontology[]

Nasutoceratops was discovered in 2006 by Eric Karl Lund. It was found in the Kaiparowits Formation in Utah part of the Grand Staircase. It was first named and described in a thesis by its discoverer in 2010 as Nasutuceratops titusi, remaining at first an invalid nomen ex dissertation. Years later, Scott D. Sampson, Lund, Mark A. Loewen, Andrew A. Farke and Katherine E. Clayton validly named the species in 2013. Nasutoceratops name means "Large-Nosed Horned Face".
