The Scrubland biome, also known as the shrubland biome, is one of the eight biomes in Prehistoric Kingdom.
Description[]
Scrublands are characterized by the dominance of shrubs and low trees which are often sclerophyllous (drought-adapted). Non-woody plants like grasses, sedges and herbs can also be present to a lesser degree. They occur in semiarid places where there isn't enough moisture to support taller vegetation, or in places that frequently experience ecological disturbances like bushfires.
Scrublands occur all around the world – usually in the low-middle latitudes – and come in all sorts of forms like the South African fynbos, Californian chaparral and the Mediterranean maquis. To reflect this, Prehistoric Kingdom has scrubland plants from diverse locations like American sabal palmettos, Oceanian Norfolk pines and foxtail palms, and Mediterranean Aleppo pines and Italian strawflowers.
